Some checkboxes to make it optionally count only letters/only numbers/... would make the length function significantly more useful.
In ideal world it could even further be instructed to only count uppercase/lowercase and wovels/consonants, etc. though the latter requires a language selection too and I understand too many options may make the UI cumbersome.
